Faust - ein ewiges Prinzip
An interdisciplinary theater-music project
"So give me back the times,
when I was still in the process of becoming,
when a spring of compressed songs
was giving birth anew without interruption,
when fog concealed the world from me,
the bud still promised wonder,
when I broke the thousand blossoms
that richly filled all valleys!
I had nothing and yet enough:
The drive for truth and the joy in deceit!
Give me those untamed instincts back,
the deep, painful happiness,
the power of hate, the strength of love,
give me back my youth!"
(Faust 1, Prelude, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)
In our newly written version "Faust - ein ewiges Prinzip," we stick to the successful concept of station theater. We present excerpts from the two parts of Goethe's Faust and weave these with source texts about the historical Faust.
The interdisciplinary theater-music project is set to music by musical director Adrian Rinck. His band "Gretchens Pudel" and a specially assembled, local choir accompany the performances.
These will be offered at completely different venues - at Burg Landeck above Klingenmünster, in the courtyards and alleys of the Muskateller village Gleiszellen-Gleishorbach, in and around the Max Slevogthof in Leinsweiler - as a circular parcours, where the play is performed on differently designed stages, in existing rooms and at already existing locations.
