Alice Herz-Sommer survived as a Jewish musician in the Theresienstadt ghetto and became internationally famous at an old age after her biography "A Garden Eden in the Midst of Hell" and several documentary films were released.

The pianist and music educator was born in Prague in 1903 and died in 2014 at the age of 110 in London. Her moving life story, her belief in the power of music, and her inspiring humanity are at the center of this unique theater evening.

The production depicts Alice's time in Theresienstadt, where she struggles to survive with her six-year-old son – while simultaneously offering hope through her music. The poignant tension between the beauty of the sounds and the horror of reality makes this evening special. Biography, acting, and concert merge into an impressive whole: The pianist and actress Natalie O’Hara takes on over 20 roles and plays live piano works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Gershwin, and more.

Die kleine Hexe hat Ärger. Denn mit 127 Jahren ist sie noch zu jung, um bei der Walpurgisnacht mitzutanzen. Und obwohl ihr treuer Rabe Abraxas versucht, sie zurückzuhalten, reitet sie heimlich doch auf den Blocksberg. Prompt wird sie von ihrer Muhme Rumpumpel erwischt und vom Hexenrat bestraft. Im nächsten Jahr darf sie nur dann mittanzen, wenn sie bis dahin gelernt hat, eine gute Hexe zu werden. Nun heißt es üben. Und noch etwas eben so Wichtiges: Keinen Schabernack mehr treiben – nur noch Gutes tun.

Eine große und spannende Aufgabe für die kleine Hexe. Ob sie die schwierige Prüfung bestehen wird?

Otfried Preußler (1923–2013) erschuf mit Krabat, dem Räuber Hotzenplotz, dem kleinen Gespenst und der kleinen Hexe unvergessliche Kinderbuchfiguren. Seine Werke wurden in 55 Sprachen übersetzt und vielfach ausgezeichnet.

The next year, she may only dance if she has learned to be a good witch by then. Now it’s time to practice. And one more thing as important: no more mischief – only do good.

A big and exciting task for the little witch. Will she pass the difficult test?

Otfried Preußler (1923–2013) created unforgettable children's book characters with Krabat, the robber Hotzenplotz, the little ghost, and the little witch. His works have been translated into 55 languages and have won many awards.

A glimpse into the past reveals a world in constant change. Where a city stands today, wild landscapes once stretched, populated by prehistoric beings. Mountains rose and disappeared, seas came and went, and gigantic animals left their traces in the rock. Evolution relentlessly shaped life, turning small creatures into giant dinosaurs and ultimately creating the first humans.

This development comes to life on stage. A workshop becomes the scene of Earth's history: With sand, water, and wind, landscapes are created that continuously change. Natural forces erupt, species come into being and become extinct. In impressive scenes, the story of the Earth unfolds – from the first life forms, through the era of dinosaurs, to early humanity. Scientific accuracy takes a backseat while a playful and emotional approach to evolution takes center stage.

In their new show, they present a steaming pot of new songs: from comedic heights to linguistically absurd silliness, from touching ballads to intense electro-punk, from feel-good earworms to biting satire, each number surprises anew. Meanwhile, the guys remain unmatched in their humility and are even more likable, spontaneous, and self-assured than last time. So everything as usual.

"Must be liked" is the twelfth stage program after over 20 years together. How can they still sound so fresh after such a long time? Quite simple: The four have never stuck to one gimmick but constantly evolve their art. Every night is a snapshot, and in every concert minute, the band measures itself against the here and now. Music, sound, light, and video are intertwined to create a complete experience. "Maybebop" is either loved or unknown. Once you've met them, there's no choice: Must be liked.

Shakespeare's perhaps most famous "hell ride," the so-called "Scottish Play," is reduced to its dramatic core in John von Düffel's adaptation: the lust for power of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Driven by prophecies and hunger for power, they ruthlessly reach for the Scottish crown – until their ambition inevitably drags them into the abyss.

Von Düffel, author, translator, dramaturg, and from 2025 the artistic director of the E.T.A. Hoffmann Theater in Bamberg, is known for his fine, clever, and powerful adaptations of classics. He has designed "Macbeth" as a concentrated, dense, psychological chamber play. It is simultaneously a political thriller and a piercing illumination of a complex couple relationship.

In the production, Jacqueline Macaulay and Hans-Werner Meyer, also a couple in real life, embody the fascinating Scottish royal couple. The concentrated focus on the relationship drama and the dark dynamics of power and madness make this production a captivating theater experience.

Pe Werner has composed pieces and lyrics tailored for Mary Roos, Stefan Gwildis, Barbara Schöneberger, Katja Ebstein, Bernd Stelter, and many others, as well as created new lyrics to worldwide hits by Bert Kaempfert, Sting, Bach, Brahms, or Oleta Adams.

The author, a certain Loriot, sketches a portrait of manners in the young Federal Republic in his letters and takes the first step from illustrator to author. Loriot's concise, always pointed statements as a television presenter are already in place here. Likewise, the sketches with which he would captivate a mass audience a decade later. Complementary drawings must of course not be missing.

To approach Frida Kahlo, the young actress Vivienne Causemann creates a multidimensional atelier space as white as a blank sheet of paper. Self-determined, passionate, and powerful like the Mexican painter, she brings to life Kahlo's life story and lets her world-famous art resonate in a surprising way.

"Frida – Viva la Vida" is an intense monologue made up of diary entries and personal testimonies from the painter. Shaped by physical limitations – polio left her with a shortened leg, a serious bus accident marked her life – Kahlo found expression for her suffering in art. Her political engagement led her to the communist revolutionary Leo Trotsky. Her tumultuous relationship with the painter Diego Rivera, whom she married twice, deeply influenced her.

After fifty celebrated performances at the Vorarlberg State Theatre, the production can now be experienced as a moving guest performance.

Tradition, honor, discipline, excellence – these are the four fundamental principles that have always been taught at Welton Academy. But with the arrival of the young teacher John Keating, who teaches literature, the rigid rules of the boys' boarding school are suddenly broken.

In his unconventional teaching, he motivates the students to think independently and develop their own personalities: "You will learn to enjoy words and language. Whether you believe it or not: words and thoughts can change the world. We do not write and read poems just because they are beautiful. We write and read poems because we are human. And humans are filled with passions."

When his student Neil learns about the mysterious "Dead Poets Society," of which Keating was once a member, he decides to revive the secret society.

”Glitz” celebrates the power of popular music, the power of the dance floor. The piece begins with the tension before the concert, the restlessness before the storm. Then the tension explodes into a euphoria: music hits the stomach and legs. Spotlight beams, basses thump, dancers unleash an associative plot of pop culture, where one should not actually sit, but stand, dance, and be in the middle of it all.

The piece celebrates the culture of the night, the intoxication of utopia. It is a passionate, defiant, witty, poetic homage to the transformative power of pop.

The Sebastian Weber Dance Company, known for its energetic, visually powerful tap dance, comes to the stage with a large band. In creative dramaturgies, the internationally cast ensemble develops surprising pieces on contemporary themes. ”Glitz” was created as a band project with a large lineup including a rhythm section, two brass musicians, and seven dancers.

The piece comforts and delights - the Farbenmonster serves as an identification figure and encourages both small and large people to embrace their feelings, no matter how monstrous they may seem.

A heartfelt adaptation of Anna Llenas’ children’s book classic that playfully introduces children to their own world of emotions and helps them to get to know and understand their emotional landscape. Author, presenter, and comedienne Lara Ermer has been writing since she can remember. Even as a teenager, she ventured out of her quiet corner with her floral notebook and claimed her spot on stage. Over time, humor increasingly took center stage in her performances. Ermer manages to talk humorously about supposed taboos and also makes complex topics sharply accessible. She always grounds the societal references in her art in her unbridled curiosity and solid facts.

For inspiration, she often reads stacks of studies—and then creates entertainment from them, so her audience doesn't have to struggle through the dry deserts of science themselves. This sharpens a consistently awake, relevant, and pointed perspective.

Lara Ermer can regularly be seen in television, radio, podcasts, and other online formats. For her work, she was awarded the German Cabaret Promotion Prize 2024, among others.

"StandUp Deluxe" is a format on the studio stage of the Lessing Theater. An intimate setting with a maximum of 100 audience members and 60 minutes of pure stand-up.

Andreas Langsch is what one would call a rising star. The trained musical singer has won jury and audience awards at the Bielefeld Cabaret Prize (2023), the St. Ingbert Pan (2023), the Reinheim Satire Weeks (2024), and the Tuttlinger Krähe (2025). Musically, he sees himself as a singer-songwriter at the piano. Blessed with a warm baritone voice, he draws from his rich musical theater experience and blends it with influences from chanson, pop, and classical piano music. His style: musical virtuosity, paired with intelligent lyrics, exceptional stage presence, and pointed humor.

In his first solo program "Der Liebesalgorithmus", Andreas Langsch creates a picture of his generation and tries to convey: between old and young. Between internet-addicted and nature-enthusiastic. Between love and love algorithm.

The world is racing, and Andreas tries to keep up. But the perfection on the internet, the perfect partnership, and the highly cultivated self-optimizers drive him insane. So he sets out in search of a solution.
