IRLAND - LIVE mit Irish Folk Band
The world traveler Frank Zagel from Lohr am Main has been traveling with his wife and their two children across the continents of this Earth for many years. The four of them have seen and experienced a lot, but when asked which journey fascinates them the most, the verdict is quite clear: The long tours across the ever-green island of Ireland!
During three visits and six months of stay, they succumbed to the charm of Europe’s wild west. These travels were much more than an adventure among sheep, moss, and crumbling ruins. There is the exciting history reaching into the present, which the attentive traveler encounters time and again. Then, of course, the beautiful nature and the unique and famous Celtic music.
From Ireland’s capital Dublin, the journey leads to hidden corners of this mysterious island, which in many ways represents a real fairy tale in the far west of Europe. Not only the sleepy villages with their legendary pubs, the unique cliffs and enchanted landscapes, but above all, the Irish themselves make this country so fairy-tale-like.
On foot, the family, on rain-soaked hikes surrounded by mists, always follows the traces of mystical graves of the Celts and millennia-old excavation sites. Of course, they also conquered the three highest mountains in the country: With Carrantuohill being the tallest, the beautiful Mount Errigal, and the holiest Crough Patrick.
On their travels, the family repeatedly encounters the typical Irish characters: A stay on Tory Island culminates in an audience with the only “Irish King,” Patsy Dan Rogers, who takes the time for an extensive interview and explains to the children why he does not own a castle and wears no crown! In his old workshop, Eugene Lamb demonstrates how he lovingly handcrafts Irish bagpipes.
Frank & family also became acquainted with Dr. Prannie Rhatigan, who wrote the only cookbook about seaweed to date. Time and again, the Zagels navigate the notorious, rhododendron-flanked, narrow and winding roads and sleep on lonely dream beaches.
In this live-commentated film and picture report, Frank Zagel takes the audience on a humorous overview of all the Irish counties, from Cork to Belfast, from the legendary Ring of Kerry to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.
Céad míle fáilte – a hundred thousand welcomes!
The report will be accompanied LIVE by the Irish Folk Band LEPRECHAUN'S PLEASURE from Switzerland. With their authentic sound, the four Lucerne folk musicians contribute to traditionally perfecting the beauty of Ireland.
