Party is their mission, celebration mood is their top goal: Die Draufgänger presents a whole album this year about “Girls & Fairy Tales”! After the celebrated “Rapunzel” viral hit (35 million streams!) from last year, the ultimate “party boy band from Austria” now completely dedicates itself to the realm of myths – and girls! The new studio album “Mädchen & Märchen” was released on September 1st via Electrola!
Also in album length, Die Draufgänger remain true to the motto of their debut (“Young. Cheeky. Styrian.”) once again: “Mädchen & Märchen” promises a whole series of set to music flirts and adventures, inventions and excuses, as in the studio seemingly “actually almost exclusively songs about girls (or girl names) and fairy tales were created,” as the band members have already hinted beforehand. Musically, they stretch the bow extremely wide again “across pop, rock, punk, EDM, and techno,” while keeping an eye on their traditional folk music instruments (harmonica, trombone). “Overall, we have taken our Draufgänger style to the next level and also incorporated musical elements that you probably haven’t heard from the trombone and harmonica before.”

On the very first girl (“Marie”) and fairy tale harbingers (“Rapunzel”), Die Draufgänger had recently followed up with their “Manuela” – and immediately sent the young lady back into the desert after a brief eye contact, so that the feelings wouldn’t become too overwhelming: “Go Manuela, otherwise I won’t be able to get rid of you,” goes the request in the rapid XXL chorus of the opening title “Geh Manuela”, which comes more like a pop-punk anthem, of course combined with the most authentic Styrian harmonica and trombone emphasis.
Furthermore, Austria’s #1 party band consistently ties massive folk elements with pop appeal and even more tempo to devote itself to fabulous (female) and other mythical creatures: In “Neonlight and Strobe,” “Marie” is just as allowed to dance as the “Rural Youth (Baby, ich bin von der…)” or also “Rapunzel,” whose DJ Robin remix is also represented as a bonus track on the album – a massive viral hit that has recently brought the guys not only 25 million streams but also about 50,000 TikTok creations. A completely different fairy tale factory is dedicated to “Du bist Hollywood,” a fireworks of quotes where they chase everything from Travolta to Spiderman, from “Pretty Woman” to James Bond over the red sound carpet – which is why the track is already a Grammy contender for the soundtrack to the craziest party of the year. Before the “Supergirl” with the stunning “Laser look” (and big beats) gets to scorch the dance floor (“She always knocks me out”), Die Draufgänger return from the Hollywood party to the countryside, where there should also be green beauties who are not shy with their charms (red rims?!): “My Fendt is faster, stronger, cooler,” it says in “Fendt (Layla),” according to the guys a musical “fairy tale about the best tractor in the world.” For the piece “Kreizsaggra,” also “a film, not youth-free,” they underpin the dialect lyrics with epic vibes, funky brass, thick drops, and the fullest synths. Speaking of green beings: The red sand from “Mars” is so tempting that they use the weightlessness to let everything take off completely with harmonica sounds and a guest singer for the hook.
The magic of a club visit is the theme of “Immer wenn du tanzt,” but actually it’s about the magic of Valerie, who can turn your head and also your dance legs (“and I dance and I dance and I dance and I turn in circles”). Quite differently is the feel-good sound of “Hey Luise”: Tape references in the car evoke nostalgic feelings, and here Die Draufgänger serve another one of those XXL choruses that are sure to create huge waves in every stadium fan curve across the world. And sometimes love only finds its way 20 years later (“Du und ich”) – although the pressure is already felt from the very first beat…

They also dedicate one of their new anthems to the “friendship” in general, after all, they are “the most beautiful here” and “a top party”: Call it camaraderie, friendship, or BFF – this is how the suitable power-pop dialect anthem sounds ;) While “Zappzarapp” also begins like one of those big fan curve numbers about flirts and setbacks in the barn, Die Draufgänger ignite a part at the end that will lay waste to every dance club.
“Say goodbye,” that’s their wish “to Ms. Bouvier” with a thick drop, but actually, they would rather like to take a few extra rounds – and serve alongside DJ Robin's remix of “Landjugend (Baby, ich bin von der…)” also the winkingly lighter-in-the-air farewell “Paris Athen Aufwiedersehen”, of course including bad jokes, personal shout-outs (also to the beers “for their effect”) & Co. – “thank you for celebrating with us.” In the viral remix of “Rapunzel,” DJ Robin then pulls out beer cans instead of roses for the bonus final sprint (“120 cans, but now they’re all empty”) and pushes the volume knob all the way towards “loud, loud, loud, loud.”
The album uniting a total of 18 tracks with the incomparable “100% made for celebrating” seal will be available from September 1st not only as a CD and digitally but also as a massively expanded fan edition – including CD, card game (Grüner Peter!), hand-signed autograph card & sticker.
Founded in 2001 as a (country) youth band, by 2007 already at the “Grandprix der Volksmusik” finals, the earworm guarantee from Styria has been performing for many years in the biggest TV shows and is turning the musical map inside out with their casually cheeky interpretations. Party is their mission, celebration mood is the top goal – and they achieve this goal on at least 200 stages per year. With 534 million streams and about 251 million views on YouTube, the four-member celebration combo – Albert-Mario Lampel, Rudi Haberl, Rene Wohlgemuth, and Robert Wolf – is even more danceable, more anarchic, and more winkingly on the new long player.
