Malte Müller & Suzan Baker - Tenor trifft Rockröhre
Let Malte Müller and Suzan Baker take you into the world of great rock classics, as well as classical music. The two musicians are unafraid to break out of their own familiar musical world and dive into each other's realms. Immortal rock classics, such as those by Metallica or Elvis Presley, will resonate just as beautifully as arias by Giuseppe Verdi or Georg Friedrich Handel. The concert is aimed at friends of good music of every style, whether classical or rock, and promises to be something extraordinary.
Suzan Baker was born to sing. At the age of three, she belts out songs by T-Rex and Deep Purple, using a wooden spoon as a microphone replacement, teaches herself to play the guitar at twelve, and begins composing her first songs as a teenager. She later refines her vocal skills with opera singer Ann Godau and is named "Discovery of the Year" by the country magazine Country-Circle shortly after forming her first band. In her mid-twenties, she founds the "Suzan Baker Band," followed by the rock band "MacLoud," with which Suzan tours the country successfully for 12 years as the bandleader and frontwoman, until she decides in 2010 that it is time to pursue other paths. She produces her own songs with Felix Weber from the USA (Chaka Khan, La Toya Jackson, La Bouche...) and collaborates with her life partner Dennis Lüddicke, a flamenco-influenced guitarist, on original compositions that are documented in several CD recordings. She has shared the stage with numerous well-known artists, such as Manfred Mann’s Earthband, Stella Parton, Chris Norman, Johnny Logan, Doro Pesch, Paul Young, Roger Chapman, and others.
Tenor Malte Müller, who is described by the US magazine Fanfare as a "highly expressive singer" with "an impressive range of dynamics and colors, combined with a crystal-clear expression," received his fundamental musical training in the Regensburger Domspatzen boys' choir. After successfully studying law, he studied singing at the Mannheim University of Music. He was significantly influenced by Puerto Rican tenor Edgardo Zayas, who taught him about the technique and style of Belcanto. Engagements have taken him to many cities and concert halls in Germany and abroad. Several solo CDs featuring Malte Müller are available. His latest recording ("Wilhelm Kienzl – Four Song Cycles"), dedicated to the Austrian composer "Wilhelm Kienzl" with world premiere recordings, has just been nominated for the German Record Critics' Award.
Suzan Baker and Malte Müller are accompanied by Dennis Lüddicke on guitar, who also serves as the musical director, Ulrike Maria Gossel, who delivers the right classical sound with her cello, and Thomas Meyer on piano.
