Jeden dritten Tag wird in Deutschland eine Frau von ihrem (Ex-)Partner getötet. Weltweit ist Femizid – die Tötung von Frauen, weil sie Frauen sind – die extremste Form geschlechtsspezifischer Gewalt. Und dennoch findet das Thema in Politik, Justiz und Öffentlichkeit oft zu wenig Beachtung. Nina George, Bestsellerautorin und Menschenrechtsaktivistin, spricht in diesem Talk gemeinsam mit Christine Meltzer, Jun. Prof. am Institut für Journalistik und Kommunikationsforschung der HMTM Hannover, über die strukturellen Ursachen von Femiziden, den Umgang der Medien mit dem Thema – und darüber, warum wir als Gesellschaft hinschauen müssen.

And yet, the topic often receives too little attention in politics, justice, and the public. Nina George, bestselling author and human rights activist, will discuss in this talk with Christine Meltzer, junior professor at the Institute for Journalism and Communication Research at HMTM Hannover, the structural causes of femicides, the media's handling of the issue – and why we as a society must pay attention.
