Andreas Diehlmann & Band
THAT OLD BLUES AGAIN
Again and again, better and more intense, Andreas Diehlmann and his band celebrate the blues.
In autumn, the new studio album "That Old Blues Again" will be released. The title indicates the way, and this time Diehlmann and his crew extract new facets from the good old blues and captivate with great songs and authentic sound.
Cicadas chirp in the warmth of the South, a bell rings alarmingly in the distance, warning of the approaching train. After a brief gust from the rushing express, silence and the cicadas once again take charge, until an irresistible lick from a Dobro musically drives the heat to its peak. These first notes show everyone who does not yet know the bluesman: He can do it! And, the man and his band can rock and have the blues.
With a lot of dynamics, Diehlmann and his band immediately hit the gas with "Whiskey And Women" after this atmospheric intro. Pure power blues, just like you know it from George Thorogood or the sadly departed John Campbell. With an infectious groove, the trio subsequently evokes the "Gypsy Woman". A hammer track, unleashed, tricky, and with a fascinating mix of funk and rock, that feels as if Lenny Kravitz and Jimi Hendrix had met.
"Make Up Your Way" and "Come Undone" offer the best Southern rock. The trio rocks through the numbers relaxedly, evoking not only associations with the little long-bearded band from Texas but also with much larger, well-known, and popular Southern bands. One reason: the nonchalance and the feel for airy floating and melodic guitar licks.
"Rock’n’Roll All Night" and the "Shotgun Wedding Blues", on the other hand, are powerful, gripping stompers, simply top from A to Z!
With "Pictures Of You", Diehlmann and his companions slow down the tempo a bit and show that they also master the classic rock ballad perfectly.
