Since 2002, Dejan Terzić has increasingly focused on his own bands and projects, where he is also featured as a composer. His group Underground (with Chris Speed, Frank Möbus, and Mark Helias) explores Balkan folklore and has recorded three CDs. With his band Melanoia (featuring Hayden Chisholm, Achim Kaufmann, and Ronny Graupe), he has recorded four CDs.Terzić, who has been recognized as "Best Drummer" at several international festivals, was awarded the Cultural Award of the City of Nuremberg in 1997. In 2004, he received the Bavarian Culture Prize from the city of Munich. Since 2008, he has served as a professor of jazz drums at the University of the Arts in Bern, Switzerland. In 2014, he was honored with the "Jazz ECHO" award as Best National Drummer. In 2015 he started working with AXIOM after his label CAMJazz encouraged him to form a new Band.

Dejan Terzić has repeatedly managed to give the Axiom quartet a unique touch. The four virtuosos are always in service of the music: the focus of all involved remains on the collective. The interaction of intentions and playing styles creates a shared space where boundless freedom is allowed. The four musicians in the quartet are deeply connected in spirit. The basic concept of most compositions is based on ideas that are inspired by minimal music in the spirit of Steve Reich to Brandt Brauer Frick. However, the lively improvisational development carries the individual songs in completely different directions, densities, and states of matter. From calmness to anger, from the barely audible growth of grass to the force of a volcanic eruption, there is room for every emotion in Axiom´s diversified minimalism.

The most recent albums released by Dejan Terzić (AXIOM: Silent Dancer and Prometheus) have generated strong media attention, receiving high praise, and the musical work has been positively received by critics and the media. The band has played numerous tours and festivals in both domestic and international settings, including Jazzdor Berlin, Jazzdor Strasbourg, Jazzycolor Paris, Jazz Festival Bologna, Jazz Fest Genova, Jazz Fest Sarajevo, Jazz Festival Bern, and more.
Despite the thousands of kilometers separating the musicians´ homes, Axiom is not a one-off project but a solid band.In 2025 the Band will celebrate its 10th anniversary and will release a new Album in the spring of 2025 for CAMJazz.
