Oskar und die Dame in Rosa

by and with Wolfgang Kramer

Little Oskar has cancer – and he feels like he has disappointed everyone. At least, that is how it seems to him since his bone marrow transplant was unsuccessful. He suspects that he has to die. No one can laugh with him anymore, and even his parents are struggling. How fortunate that he gets along so well with Grandma Rosa, one of the volunteer helpers in the children's ward. But she is not just any lady in pink. She doesn't lie to him, but she also shows him ways to see how valuable and beautiful his life can still be if he experiences it consciously every day. It also helps him that she advises him to write letters to God to "feel less lonely."

Wolfgang Kramer takes on all the roles in this performance; he reads and plays the fourteen letters to "dear God" and immerses the audience right into this story, which deals with great taboos but also wants to give courage and hope.

Wolfgang Kramer is an actor, singer, and director. He works all over Germany, including the Ettlingen Festival or regularly in Karlsruhe with performances of the crime dinner, but he also writes his own plays and stories which he brings to the stage in one form or another. The performance "Oskar und die Dame in Rosa" is his own adaptation.

Eine Frau, die weiss, was sie will! - Operrette von Oscar Strauß

Operetta
by Oscar Strauß
Musical comedy in two acts by Alfred Grünewald (after Verneuil)
in a text adaptation by Leonard Steckel
Music by Oscar Strauß

Premiere: February 18, 2022
Director: Joerg Mohr
Piano: Daniel Prandl
Set design: Antonia Schmitz

Performance rights: Felix Bloch Erben, Berlin

Cast:
André Haedicke, Christine Rothacker

A true gem among operettas. In the varied play with role clichés, no eye remains dry. You have never seen operetta like this! Manon is the woman who knows what she wants and usually gets it. The operetta diva has a young admirer, Raoul. He, in turn, is in love with the young Lucy, who asks Manon to give up the coveted bachelor for her sake, not knowing that Manon is her mother. And already we are right in the midst of the wild confusion carousel of this charming operetta comedy, full of irony and frivolity, with witty and clever dialogues. Meanwhile, Oscar Straus’ score offers everything that a hit operetta should provide: familiar music to sway to, waltzes and chansons that touch the heart.

Experience Oscar Straus’ jazz operetta, fast-paced and absurd, adapted for two performers and a piano.

Oskar und die Dame in Rosa - Thiele Neumann Theater

A play by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt with Regina Neumann / Directed by: Valerij Persikov

“Whoever medicine can no longer help may perhaps be saved by humor and imagination.” (E.-E. Schmitt)

The ten-year-old leukemia patient Oskar has only 12 days left to live.

Doctors and parents shy away from this painful truth – but Oskar also has Grandma Rosa, a dedicated caregiver:
“From today on, you will treat each day as if it were ten years.”
That is Grandma Rosa's idea, which fights for hope, courage, and zest for life.
Oskar agrees to Grandma Rosa's suggestion and thus experiences in a miraculous way a fulfilled life “in fast forward”:
Puberty, first love, “marriage,” midlife crisis – aging up to his death.
A tightrope walk between non-kitsch and emotional impact, a brilliant mixture of fantasy, humor, and feeling.
