Westerwälder Opernwerk - Vol. 6
The "westerwälderopernwerk" is back!
After a four-year break, it is finally time again: the kulturWERKwissen will once again transform into an extraordinary opera stage. For the sixth time, the "westerwälderopernwerk" [wOw] invites you to an evening concert that makes opera and operetta experienceable in a special way.
Young, outstanding singers present well-known and lesser-known works – with great voices, a lot of joy in performance, and quite consciously different from the classical opera house.
The motto has been the program since the beginning: Exciting! Different! Unique!
Founded in 2012 by Sigrid Rosenberg-Schumacher and Heinz-Günter Schumacher, the westerwälderopernwerk offers a stage for young, highly talented singers and aims to inspire a broad audience for opera and classical singing. Five successful events, with over 300 visitors at the last one, have shown that this concept works.
The soprano Florentine Schumacher is once again involved, who recently embodied the main role of Hanna Glawari in the operetta "Die lustige Witwe" at the Mittelsächsischen Bühnen and will be a permanent member of the ensemble there from January 2027 for one year.
Together with Chiara Ducomble, Marcelo Alexandre, Zhengyu Li, and Jonghwan Lee, she takes the audience on a musical journey through the world of opera and operetta. Pianist Hedayet Jonas Djeddikar, who has been connected with the westerwälderopernwerk for many years, will once again accompany the artists at the piano.
Prof. Stefanie Krahnenfeld from the Mannheim University of Music will guide the evening. The former soprano not only conveys interesting information about the music but also brings the stories and passions behind the works to life in an engaging and entertaining way.
There is a special innovation in the sixth edition: opera and operetta will be experienced even more scenically. The young director Felix Scharff, who recently made his directorial debut at the Kammeroper München with "Szenen zweier Ehen", has been won over for this purpose. Together with the singers, he will reinterpret selected scenes on the extraordinary stage of kulturWERKwissen.
Thus, wOw remains true to its idea and simultaneously develops it further: classical music at a high level, without inhibitions, unexpectedly staged, and very close to the audience.
Curtain up for great voices, young artists, and the entire emotional variety of opera and operetta. Exciting! Different! Unique!
