Peter Orloff comes from an old Russian noble family. His father, son of a Tsar's general, was a theologian and later led the Black Sea Cossack Choir founded in the 1930s, where Peter Orloff showcased his voice.

The very name Danceperados of Ireland symbolizes the enthusiasm of the ensemble for Irish tap dancing. Loosely translated, they are "The Dance Crazies." Yes, the Irish cannot help but dance, sing, and play. It is in their blood. Just as fishing is part of the Irish DNA.

An old saying goes: "If you want to reach the source, you have to swim against the current." This applies not only to the salmon swimming upstream from the vast sea to the place where it was born. Every musician and dancer who wants to be authentic has the goal of getting as close as possible to the origin of the Irish tradition.

With "Hooked," the Danceperados have created a new captivating show that brings together the fascination of fishing and dancing, as well as music and song. "Hooked" is a tribute to the customs and traditions of the maritime communities, where life is wonderfully different from the big cities. The songs and stories surrounding the sea take us back to a time when people were still self-sufficient and led a simple but self-determined life. However, it was a dangerous one! The sea not only gave but often also took away. All of this will be seen and heard. A multimedia presentation with historical and current images and videos combines with music and tap dance to create a complete work of art for the eyes and ears.

However, "Hooked" is not just an ode to the sea and rivers of the green island or to the wild and untamed nature. In light of the pace and aggressiveness of current overexploitation, one must ask whether the natural environment will still be preserved for future generations. The Danceperados of Ireland bring the unequal struggle of David against Goliath to the boards that mean the world. For small coastal fishermen are increasingly threatened by the giant fish factories that are plundering the seas on an industrial scale. Ireland's price for joining the EU in 1973 was the cession of 60 percent of the catch quota. The naive government was fooled, as EU subsidies ran out after a few years and Ireland has since become a net contributor to the EU. Nevertheless, vast amounts of fish are taken from Irish waters by other nations year after year, generating so much income that the old subsidies have long been compensated.

Currently, Irish fishermen have lost another 40 percent due to Brexit. Jobs in maritime communities are rapidly disappearing, and rural exodus is setting in. People on the coast literally find themselves up to their necks in water. Wild salmon is overfished, and gigantic salmon farms, which pollute the coastal bays, are robbing it of its last habitats. The Danceperados of Ireland are keen to draw attention to these often lesser-known issues here. Unlike other shows that merely portray an idealized, beautiful world, the ensemble manages to be extremely entertaining while also not presenting only shallow content.

Another big difference from other tap dance shows is that the Danceperados play live! Many competitors serve the audience half or even full playback. The Danceperados of Ireland have a completely different quality standard and set themselves at the forefront of a movement in 2014 that aims to liberate Irish tap dance from the clutches of the big producers and bring it "back to the roots." Media and fans are electrified by the power and competence of this new and honest concept. With standing ovations, they celebrate an ensemble that has succeeded in combining show and culture in the best possible way.
