A Bundeswehr officer who refuses orders. A member of the "Last Generation" who is imprisoned for their activism. A railway unionist who organizes strikes. A pig farmer who blocks roads. They all share one thing in common: they have crossed a line; they have either broken the law or are perceived in the public eye as "disobedient" due to their actions and are under pressure. "Disobedience" means taking a personal risk, pushing the limits of what is permitted, expected, and usual, crossing, and questioning them. Disobedience occurs on both small and large scales: on German highways, in the Federal Office for Migration, by whistleblowers, in Hambacher Forest or in Lützerath – or in villages declared autonomous republics by Reich Citizens. Disobedience resonates in grand media bell ringing as much as in small private defiance. Sometimes lofty goals are behind it, sometimes irrational fears, occasionally great moral questions. The authors Marcel Raabe and Manuel Waltz conducted numerous interviews, accompanied by intensive research on the topic of civil disobedience. From the documentary material, they develop a participatory theater piece that involves the audience.

Aachen in the year 2044. After the National Alliance for Germany (NAfD) became the strongest force in the federal elections in 2029, democracy has been gradually abolished and an authoritarian regime has been established. Freedom of expression no longer exists, art production is under state control, daily "denationalizations" of people who cannot provide a German "genealogy certificate" take place, and digital surveillance is omnipresent.

Inspired by the podcast "2044. Chronik einer verlorenen Zukunft" by Norman Schäfer, the director and ensemble are developing a new piece that looks from the future to our present and examines, through a group of people, how action is possible in an authoritarian state and how we can prevent this future scenario. A teacher, a police officer, a reporter, an expelled detainee on the run, an artist in resistance, and a scientist from RWTH Aachen experience a world that has fallen out of balance. Gernot Grünewald has made a name for himself with documentary theater projects and has directed at the Thalia Theater Hamburg, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Schauspiel Stuttgart, and at the Munich Kammerspiele.

Everyone is talking about artificial intelligence. Tech companies and governments are pumping billions into this promising key technology of the future. It is expected to revolutionize practically all areas of human life. Yet the idea at its core is not new: In 1816, Mary Shelley had her Swiss scientist Victor Frankenstein create an artificial intelligence – his famous monster has been wandering through pop culture for over 200 years. Like today’s "Large Language Models" (e.g., ChatGPT), it learns through observation and imitation. Its clumsy brutality touches and terrifies us, just as AI simultaneously provokes both euphoria and apocalyptic fear. But what if these two reaction patterns are not even contradictory: Is the yearning for self-annihilation perhaps at the root of our inventive desire? Are we willingly replacing ourselves with a new, better form of existence – more rational and less destructive than the outdated human species?
In his playful reinterpretation, director Tristan Linder connects Mary Shelley’s classic with current technological debates, employing the very tools that are also the subject of the discussion. An evening of theater that navigates between science fiction and creation myth, between hope and fear.

Johann Sebastian Bach unleashes the full emotional power of the Gospel of John – dramatic, touching, timeless. It is not just about the biblical story, but about being human itself. Choreographer Guillaume Hulot, former ballet master of the Gauthier Dance Company at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart, was seen in the choreographies of George Balanchine, William Forsythe, and Jirí Kylián during his professional dancer career. Under the direction of Olivia Fuchs, Hulot and his ensemble add an impressive contemporary movement layer to Bach's timeless music.

The headline of the day's newspaper raises a terrible suspicion: A gruesome murder of a coal dealer is said to have occurred at night, committed by two drunks.
The attempt to, on one hand, cover up his supposed guilt and on the other, to keep from his wife that he even left the house and apparently drank excessively leads to a breathless and comical game of hide and seek, in which existential questions lurk: What abysses slumber in the daytime peaceful self? Or are there secret doppelgängers that put nightmares into action? And what is one willing to do to wash the hands clean of guilt after the deed is done?
